Rheem

When you choose to have a new Rheem unit put in your house by Northern Heating and Cooling, you are making a very sound decision. You have most likely have taken time to view our web site, seen all of our customer testimonials in our video as well looked on our blog page to get a good feeling of the amount of attention we put towards satisfying anyone of our hundreds of customers.

However, where Northern will always take care of you we always find it easier when our customers choose to put in Rheem equipment. We have found Rheem to make the most comfortable, efficient and reliable units on the market here are several bullets on why we stand behind the Rheem name.

  • Rheem is always rated very highly on consumer reports. At the moment they are rated number one when it comes to furnaces, and our modulating furnace is a consumer reports’ best buy

  • On the subject of furnaces, all of Rheem’s furnaces are equipped with a 409 stainless steel heat exchanger. What does this mean? Most all other units on the market have a heat exchanger made of two components crimped or riveted together, as these heat exchangers heat up and cool down they expand and contract. What we have found is that most of these heat exchangers will crack right at the areas where these two pieces were connected together. Rheem’s heat exchangers are just one piece of metal and therefore expand and contract equally, therefore they rarely ever have heat exchanger failures. Rheem believes in their stainless steel heat exchangers so much that they put at least a limited lifetime warranty on them all.

  • Rheem also likes to continue to put pressure on the industry by engineering innovative products that keep their competitors on their toes. One of these products is the Rheem modulating furnace. This product gives us all goose bumps. Let me tell you why:

    • With a fully modulating gas valve you will only need to use the gas that the weather demands. Therefore, if it is a mild day you won’t have to use 100% of you 120,000 BTU gas furnace to heat your home you may use any amount of gas needed between 40% to 100%. This is a nice feature because it allows your furnace to run for a longer period of time utilizing less natural gas and at a slower blower speed. This allows the unit to push more air to the extremities of your home and you will experience a more balanced comfortable heat.

    • So if it runs longer won’t it increase my electric bill? No necessarily, Rheem has installed a GE ECM variable speed blower motor that is touted to save the homeowner up to $230 annually on their electric bill

    • Remember those limited lifetime heat exchanger warranties we mentioned earlier. Well Rheem is so proud of this unit that the warranty turns into a lifetime unit replacement warranty, to the original homeowner. Also on a side note our distributor throws in a 10 year parts and labor extended warranty on each one we sell. Just imagine for 10 years never having to pay an HVAC service tech to fix your furnace, and then if the heat exchanger ever fails you get a brand new furnace. You can’t beat it.

    • The furnace also comes with an additional control board that enables the unit to enhance the dehumidification properties of your system. How it works is that is allows the ECM motor to run at low speeds and force the coil to create pull moisture out of the air by creating more condensation.

  • Another great innovative product is the Comfort Control Board located in the *JEZ outdoor units. You will find this board important for many reasons here are several:

    • Your compressor will be protected. This board will monitor your unit and if something fails that would harm your compressor, a repair you do not want to happen, it will turn off the unit so that a technician can do proactive repairs.

    • Your contactor will last much longer. The contactor is a small but important tool that allows your unit to turn on. Usually these are open to the elements and quickly corrode. The contactor on the Comfort Control Board is completely incased and monitored by a laser so that it only closes at the moments there will be no spark. This allows the contactor to last much longer.

    • You will also notice increased warranties.

Case in point the reason we stand behind Rheem, is that Rheem stands behind us. Also, if creating dependable, innovative units is not enough they also extend to you a 12 month no payment deferred interest financing. When you use the financing program you will also receive a revolving credit card which you can throw away or use to pay for any service calls or add-ons that may pop up over the years.
